Perry Duke Maxwell was commissioned to build the Golf Club of Oklahoma

The Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club is a par 72, 6,298-yard course that is home to the men's and women's golf programs at the University of Oklahoma. The OU Golf Club opened in 1951 after construction began in 1949. Perry Maxwell, a native Oklahoman, was commissioned to construct the course. In the process, he encountered two distinct types of terrain - a flat area and a hilly, rolling area.

During this time, Maxwell visited Scotland to learn more about the Scottish golf course building culture. This trip influenced his design philosophy, and some of his first works include the Dornick Hills Golf and Country Club in Oklahoma City, which hosted the 1935 PGA Championship. Other notable Maxwell courses include the Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville and Muskogee Country Club in Oklahoma City. The earliest golf course in Oklahoma to feature grass greens was the Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club, which opened in 1913. In fact, the course was considered to be the best Oklahoma course for many years.

Tom Fazio Designed The Course

The Golf Club of Oklahoma is a secluded haven outside of the city. Designed by Tom Fazio, this par-72 course stretches over more than 525 acres in northeastern Oklahoma. Its course layout is incredibly varied and takes into account the terrain and natural assets of the area. Towering oak trees and a body of water are just a few examples of the untouched natural beauty of this area. Despite the layout, the course is challenging enough to test even the most experienced golfers.

The Oklahoma State golf team plays at the Tom Fazio-designed Karsten Creek course, which was built in 1994. The course takes place around Lake Louise, named for Solheim's wife. It ranks No. 30 on Golfweek's Top 100 Courses You Can Play, and No. 69 on Golfweek's list of Best Modern Courses Built After 1960. While the Oklahoma golf course may be small, it has a great atmosphere and is well worth a visit.

Several Of Golf's Greatest Champions Are Native Oklahomans

There are many outstanding native Oklahomans in golf. Floyd Farley is one such player. He played golf for decades and then turned his attention to course design. In 1938 and 1942, Farley won the South Central PGA Section Championship. In his career, he won six major tournaments and earned several prestigious titles. In addition, he is a two-time PGA Tour winner.

Our History

In 2008, Monster Tree Service began as a small tree service company providing arboricultural care to Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. Our founder was committed to promoting the growth of healthy trees and giving homeowners unparalleled service while taking care of their yards and homes. As a result, when other tree service businesses struggled to find jobs, our company kept working through every season, growing and expanding like the trees we care for.

Customers love working with us because we’re honest. When we tell customers they do or don’t need a particular service, they know we mean it. Because we care about trees, we’ll always fight for ways to rehabilitate your tree rather than remove it. When we do recommend removal, it’s because we know it’s the only thing that’s safe for your home and family.
